THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Acts 2:38 (NKJV) Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
When Jesus left the earth, He promised us that He would not leave us as orphans. He promised that He would give us One just like Himself, and that One is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is not a little God, or something like a vapor, He is Almighty God, just like Jesus and God the Father are.
When the Holy Spirit came in Acts 2, He came in great power, and He has not changed. Look at what it says in Acts 2:1-4, “When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
The Holy Spirit came in a mighty wind and filled the house where they were, and they began to speak in tongues. Too many people make tongues some kind of spooky thing. It is not spooky. It is the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives! When the Holy Spirit fills us up and we start speaking in tongues, He speaks through us in a language that God understands. It is a language that the devil cannot understand. That is why He fights it so much.
Today, I want to encourage you to read these scriptures. Then, ask the Holy Spirit to fill you to overflowing. Listen to those words deep within you, and speak them out. Jesus said in John 7:38-39, "…out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake He of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given…).” Well, for us, He has been given, and I am full! I pray today, that you are, or will be, too.
