2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NKJV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
Our God is a God of comfort. It does not matter what we are going through; He has promised us that He would be there to hold us and also to get us through it. When we get through it, when we win this fight of faith, He then asks us to help others, to bring comfort to those that might be going through a rough time.
In our lives, we are going to hit bumps in the road. Some of the bumps can feel like your engine is going to fall out, but hold on! Your Father will get you through. Have you ever been on a roller coaster ride, and when you get started you kind of say, “Why did I get on this thing?” Your knuckles are white, there is sweat pouring out of you, and fear is gripping you. But the ride begins, and you hold on tight, and then it is over.
So it is, so many times, with things in our lives. We make them bigger than they are, and before we know it, it is over. Today, be prepared. There are going to be some wild rides in life. The rapids are going to try and pull you under, but your God is there with you, and He will give you all the comfort that you need. He will say to you, if you will listen, “Hey, it is going to get bumpy up ahead. Hold on. I am here and I will not let you go.”
Remember that God, your Father, is for you, and He knows the past, present and the future. If you will trust Him, He can even take the rough spots up ahead and smooth them out for you. All you have to do is sit back, give Him the reins, and trust Him. He has not failed you in the past, and He for sure will not fail you now.
CONFESSION: My God is a God of comfort. He will guide me and help me in my course of life. He has not let me down before, and He sure will not now.
