Isaiah 43:1-3 (NKJV) But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you. 3 For I am the LORD your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior.

I was once at a church service where the speaker was a man named Norman Williams*.  He was in a plane accident on the Canary Islands in which two huge 747’s crashed on the runway and burned. Only a few people out of more than 500 escaped. The rest were killed.

He told us that it was miraculous how he got out.  He looked at the people on both sides of him, and it was so hot, the flesh just melted off of them. They became skeletons instantly.  He said that people who were normally nice little old ladies yelled out curses and cursed God.  He brought out that what was in their hearts just came out.

But what came out of his mouth was different.  He had been seeking God, and he and his mother prayed that he would be safe before he left on that trip.  The first thing to come out of his mouth was the Name of Jesus, and verses of God's protection. He said that he had a huge fireball come right at him but he was not burned.

He said that there was an explosion right above his head, and the plane roof, which was ten feet high at that point, was torn open. He jumped up right through that hole, even though he was fifty years old and overweight.  God supernaturally delivered him.

I think about this story with today’s verses in mind.  This is why it is so important to get the Word of God into your mind, and deep within your heart.  Things happen in this world, but when we have our shield of faith on and the sword of the Spirit sharpened, we can fight the things that come against us.  Today, make a decision to put God first, and make His Word number one in your life.

Confession:  Today, I make a decision to meditate on God's Word, and to start giving it first place in my life.  I declare and decree that God is my protector, and His angels have charge over me.

*If you would like to read the story of this account in Norman Williams’ life, the book is called Terror at Tenerife.

Hebrews 4:15-16 (NKJV) For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Because Jesus went to the cross and died for you and me, we have been made the righteousness of God in Him (1 Corinthians 5:21).  Knowing this fact, and living like it is real, will change your life and your prayer life!

Many people enter into prayer with a condemnation attitude, always thinking, “Poor me.”  I don't know about you, but if I told my kids they can have the pie in the refrigerator, and they keep coming back to me and begging me for it, I think I would go to the refrigerator and eat it myself!  (Well, you know I would not do that, but you see what I mean.)

Jesus Christ has come to the earth, brought forth all of these wonderful promises that we read in the Word, and we still beg God for them.  We think that by begging we can get God to change, but His Word declares that He changes not.

God is a God of faith, and for us to receive anything that He has promised us from His Word, we need to receive it by faith.  In Hebrews 4:16, God tells us to “come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain...”  Notice it did not say that we could not obtain.  God wants us to be bold as a lion when it comes to believing His Word, not arrogant or big-headed, but bold!

So today, do not be timid.  Find out what His Word declares, and then believe Him for it.  Remember, God is not holding any good thing back from us; it is the enemy.  There is nothing that makes the Father happier than seeing His children receiving what rightfully belongs to them!

Confession:  Today, I am believing my Heavenly Father for ________________.  According to His Word, I come boldly into the throne room of grace to obtain what Jesus has purchased for me!

Deuteronomy 7:15 (NKJV) “And the LORD will take away from you all sickness, and will afflict you with none of the terrible diseases of Egypt which you have known, but will lay them on all those who hate you.

Our Father God is not the author of sickness and disease.  He is the author of health and well-being.  Our Father is looking for ways to bring healing to us, not take it away from us.  When we do a good study of the scriptures, we find over and over that our God is a God who heals His children.

The Bible states that Jesus and the Father are one, and everywhere that Jesus went as He walked this earth, He never once put sickness on someone.  No!  Acts 10:38 says that Jesus, “went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil.”  So we see that sickness is from the devil, and it came at the fall.

When satan came, he brought fear into this world and all of its deadly works, but God sent Jesus to destroy all of them for us.  What a Father we serve!  He is the “Great I Am,” not the “I Want To Be.”  He is at work in us, helping us and guiding us to bring a cure.

If it was up to the devil, he would keep us sick and miserable.  Do you really think that the devil would give us doctors and nurses and people that can help us?  No!  Our Father has given us healing through His Word, and He has given great medicines and doctors, all because He loves us and wants us well.

So today, do not accept anything from the devil.  Accept everything that is good and comes from God, your Heavenly Father.  He loves you, and gave His all for you.  Learn His ways, and the light will always expose the darkness of the devil.

Confession:  My Father is out for my good.  Healing is good, and today I receive healing in my body in Jesus Name.  God never gives sickness, so I can boldly say today that I am healed!

Philippians 2:13 (NKJV) For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

God is always at work in us.  He never stops, even when we think that nothing is happening.  His love is so overwhelming that in spite of us, He is there doing what needs to be done.

When we realize the amazing love that our Heavenly Father has for us, and His intense patience, we can sit back and let Him do what needs to be done, because He will only do things that are for our good.  You know the old saying,  “When life throws you a lemon, make lemonade!”  Well, life will throw things at us, but as we put our trust in the Great I Am, believing that He is at work within us, He will work things out for our good.  As it says in Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God.”

Now, I am not talking about when sickness or something bad comes.  We who are growing in the Lord know that these things are not of God.  But when the enemy brings stuff, and life brings stuff, we need to hold on to Him just like we would if we were on a wild ride.  We know that as the ride comes to an end, we will get off and say, “Man, that was fun!”   Well, even the bad things that happen to us will come to an end, and God will work them out for our benefit.

I am always amazed that no matter how bad a rain or snow storm is, when you give it a little time, the sun will come out again and the blue sky will appear.  Many times, it is more beautiful and fresh than ever!  In the same way, what you are going through today will come to an end, and God will bring His beautiful sunshine out for you!

Confession:  God is still working on me.  He has not given up on me, and I will not give up on myself.  My Father God is doing a good work in me, and just like it takes time for a seed to grow, this work will grow in me and bring forth a great harvest.

John 14:21 (NKJV) “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

In this scripture, Jesus is showing us how to get into intimacy with the Father.  It is by obeying His commandments.  Many people, when they hear this, say, “Oh yeah, that is right.  I have to do the law.  I have to live under all of those rules and regulations.”  But that is the farthest thing from the truth.

The commandments that Jesus gave us are to love the Lord our God with all of our heart, all of our soul, all of our strength, and to love one another.  So, we see that the commandments are love commandments.   Anyone who truly loves God has no problem with the first part.  We love Him and want to be a blessing to Him.  It is the second part that gives us some problems.

Yet, as we make decisions each day to get closer to our Heavenly Father, we see that His love, which is shed abroad in our hearts, flows out to others.   When I love God, His goodness, kindness, and all of the fruit of the Spirit, come into me and flow out from me.

In the last part of this verse, it says that if we do these things, God will manifest Himself to us.  Oh, that is what I want!  How about you?  This means that God will make Himself known to us; He will reveal Himself to us.  This is what David prayed for over and over, especially throughout the Psalms.  He wanted to know God, and He was an Old Testament saint.  How much more should we, as new creations in Christ, desire this!

So today, walk in love.  Get to know the Father, and let His presence come into your life.  Get to know Him like never before.  I will tell you one thing: You will never regret it!  One minute in the presence of God is so powerful, it will shake you for eternity.

Confession:  Today, I am going to love God and love others.  As I do that, the Father will reveal Himself to me.  Today, I want to see Him and know Him.  I want Him more than anything.

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I love the way the New Living Translation brings out this verse, “Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

The way that we receive the power to overcome the things that come against our mind and body is to renew our minds.  You might say, “What does it mean to renew our minds?”  It means to take time to listen to the Word, and think the way that God thinks.

If you have not noticed, this world thinks a little differently than a child of God should.  This world is so negative, and it constantly speaks words of death.  Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and if we speak like the world speaks, we will receive the same thing that the world has, and that is death.

But there is one thing I know.  If you are reading this devotional, then you do not want to live like the world.  You want to renew your mind with the Word of God!  The only way, and I do mean the only way, to renew your mind, to change the way you think and start thinking the way God thinks, is to take time each day to read His thoughts that are written in the Bible.

Stop watching so much bad news, and start reading some Good News, the Bible.  If you do, you will see a major change in your life.  You will become more positive, and have a brighter outlook on life.  Take time each day to read the New Testament, and when you find a promise in it, say, “That's mine!”  Then watch it become a reality in your life.

Confession:  Today, I going to read the Good News, the Bible, and when I see a promise in the Word of God, I will confess it as my own and I will see my mind renewed to God’s way of thinking.  My mind does not have to be filled with junk.  Today, I fill it with gold from the Word!

Romans 12:1 (NKJV) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

God has redeemed us, and in His sight, we are new creations!  We are the very righteousness of God, in Christ Jesus.  Because of the death of Jesus on the cross and His shed blood, our spirit man, the real us, is alive and one with Him.

Our bodies, though, have not been fully redeemed yet.  They will be at the return of Jesus Christ, but what this verse is saying is that we have some work to do, by the strength of the Holy Spirit living within our spirit.  You see, God has placed Himself within us to help us overcome the struggles of our flesh.

If left to itself, the flesh would do all kinds of crazy things.  It would want to destroy itself with over-eating, over-indulging in fleshly things, and just doing things that would harm it.  But God has asked us to make these bodies living sacrifices to Him, and He has placed His strength within us to do it.

It would be one thing for God to ask us to do it, and then leave us to ourselves to accomplish it.  This would only work with strong willpower or strong self-control, which I have seen fail too many times.  But God has given us His grace, and this empowers us to be world overcomers.

So you see, you are not on your own.  You are not thrown out there to the wolves to fight constantly.  God wants you to enter into His rest, knowing that with the Greater One in you, you will present your body to Him, holy and acceptable.

Remember, do not live in the guilt of a mistake.  Trust Him that He is bigger than any mistake that you might make, and He has delivered you from anything that the enemy might throw at you.

Confession:  Today, I present my body to God as a living sacrifice.  God does not want a dead sacrifice, but a living one.  I know today that He will empower me to overcome any test, trial, or temptation that the evil one may bring against me.

Romans 6:14 (NKJV) For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

I love this verse!  It is so positive and right to the point.  Sin shall not have dominion over me.  Not maybe.  Not we will see.  Sin shall not have dominion over me!  On the cross, our Jesus defeated the devil and has given us the victory.  On the cross, my sins were laid on Him and now I am free of sin.

Many believe when you say that, it gives people a freedom to sin, but that is so far from the truth.  You see, when we understand that we are saved by grace and there was nothing we could do, and that it was all the work of Jesus and our heavenly Father, it gives us the empowerment to overcome sin.

I have found that as I confess what Jesus has already done for me, it breaks the enemy’s stronghold over me.  (I can find these truths in the letters written to the church).

There is nothing greater than to know that the Greater One lives in us and He empowers us to be world overcomers.  Remember, the Word says in 1 John 4:4, “…He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”  It also says in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

So today, do not dwell on your shortcomings.  We all have plenty of them.  Instead, dwell on Jesus!  See Him as living inside of you.  You are a pure and clean vessel, because sin shall not have dominion over you.  You are not under law, but under grace.  Thank God for the blood that washes you white as snow!

Confession: Today, I declare that I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.  I declare that the Greater One lives in me, and He empowers me to overcome the dictates of the flesh.
